Scammers’ Latest Tricks

Scammers have figured out countless ways to cheat you out of your money—possibly your life savings—over the phone. Some scammers act friendly and helpful; others might threaten or try to scare you. One thing remains consistent: A phone scammer will try to get your money or your personal information to commit identity theft. Recently, here in the Village, several residents have reported they are receiving phone messages from people purporting to be friends and/or neighbors describing how to acquire money. According to one resident’s message, a “friend” received more than $100,000.
