Could You Be a Village Board Member?
Have you ever considered running for a Village governing board of directors and what it might be like to serve on one? After being stuck in quarantine for more than a year, the Golden Rain Foundation (GRF) is hosting a get-acquainted coffee event Friday, June 25, at 2 p.m. at Clubhouse 7 for residents who may want to get out there, get involved and serve on a board. You may be surprised at how many qualifications you already possess!
At this informal gathering:
- Learn the qualifications needed to become a board member
- Understand the differences between the housing mutuals (Third, United, Mutual Fifty/Towers) and GRF
- Speak with current GRF, Third, United and Mutual Fifty/Towers board members
- Discover the election process and submission requirements, including the application and your written personal statement, and learn what publicity methods are available to you as a candidate
Housing mutual and GRF board members represent Village residents, whether they live in Third, United or Mutual Fifty, and establish policy goals for the Village. If you want to join them in this task and find out more about running for and serving on a board, be sure to attend this event and meet board members, ask questions, find guidance to navigate the election process and become an active part of Laguna Woods Village governance.
A second get-acquainted coffee is scheduled for Friday, July 9; additional details will be provided soon.
