SCE to Send PSPS Updates
Next week, Southern California Edison (SCE) customers can expect to receive via mail a newsletter regarding public safety power shutoff (PSPS) updates. Due to improved fire weather conditions brought on by widespread rains and snowfall in fire-prone areas at the end of last year, SCE has not had any PSPS events since early November. However, as in past years, when there is a high risk for a wildfire, SCE may temporarily shut off power to your neighborhood to prevent the electric system from becoming the source of an ignition.
A PSPS is most likely to affect those who live in high fire-risk areas, but it is important that all communities be prepared. Help your household be prepared for any emergency situation with a safety preparedness plan, some basic supplies and advance planning.
