Access System Plan for Gate 11
The gatehouse renovation project, initiated to increase security in Village residential areas, is complete with the exception of Gate 11. Gate arms, cameras and license plate reader technology greatly enhance security measures for the community, which is why a proposal is in the works to install the same system at Gate 11.
A supplemental appropriation in the amount of $110,000 from the Facilities Fund for Gate 11 Renovations and $80,000 from the Equipment Fund for Gate Access System Technology is required to fund this project.
The GRF Security and Community Access Committee approved the Gate 11 arm proposal, submitted by the Department of Security Services, during its meeting on Monday, August 26. Future steps toward implementation include the Maintenance and Construction Committee (Wednesday, October 9), the GRF Financial Committee (Wednesday, October 23) and the GRF board (Tuesday, November 5).
Gates 12 and 16 are not part of the project, as they are nonresidential gates and only allow access to the golf courses, driving range, putting greens, pro shop, Village Greens, 19 Restaurant and Clubhouse 7. Gate 12 is monitored by a Gate Ambassador from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., and both gates are locked after hours. Likewise, these entryways experience high traffic volume during various events; gates would lead to backups.
