Upcoming Bus Excursions
The Department of Recreation Services has implemented a new bus excursion reservation system. Reservations will be made via a lottery instead of by phone. Residents can enter a lottery “card” in person at the Recreation office or via email at recreation@vmsinc.org. Lottery cards may be submitted for up to four excursions at a time (most current four excursions only). One card may hold up to two seats only. Requests received by email will receive a reply receipt via email. Information will be entered into a spreadsheet for randomization. The lottery deadline is approximately two weeks prior to each excursion. Cards will be drawn on each excursion’s lottery deadline and Residents with reservations will be contacted within 48 hours. Those not drawn will be placed on a wait list and will be called in order as cancellations are received. Residents may email or visit the Recreation office to submit lottery cards.
Upcoming bus excursions:
- Casa Romantica Tour: Wednesday, September 11, at 10 a.m.; cost is $5 per person and residents must have a $5 in hand to give tour director. Lottery is Monday, August 26.
- Girls in the Garage: Wednesday, October 2, at 4:30 p.m.; held at Mission Viejo Transmission & Auto Repair (helping women learn the basics of car maintenance while having fun). There is no cost for this excursion. Lottery is Monday, September 16.
- Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum: Wednesday, November 20, at 9:30 a.m.; visit to the Richard Nixon Library. Entry fee at the door is $21 for adults, $17 for seniors 62+ and $15 for retired military. Lottery is Monday, November 4.
