Bicycle Club – Silverstreaks

THE BICYCLE CLUB IS AN INFORMAL GROUP OF VILLAGE CYCLISTS WHO ENJOY THE FELLOWSHIP OF GROUP RIDES. ORIGINALLY CALLED THE "RECYCLERS" WE NOW GO UNDER THE NAME OF "SILVERSTREAKS". WE HAVE  FORMAL RIDES ON SUNDAYS STARTING AT 9.00 am IN THE WINTER AND 8.30 am IN THE SUMMER. THE DESIGNATED DESTINATIONS ARE LISTED IN THE SCHEDULE, AS ARE THE MEETING POINTS AND TIMES OF DEPARTURE. THE RIDES ARE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 18 AND 30 MILES AT AN EASY PACE. DURING THE WEEK WE HAVE INFORMAL RIDES ON MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, AND FRIDAYS. ON MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS WE MEET AT THE LOS OLIVOS COMMUNITY PARK ON EL CANTO (DIRECTIONS BELOW)

ON FRIDAYS. STARTING TIMES ARE THE SAME AS THE SCHEDULED SUNDAY RIDE. THESE RIDES ARE GENERALLY LONGER BETWEEN 30 AND 45 MILES. HOWEVER,  ALMOST ALWAYS  THERE ARE A FEW WHO OPT FOR A SHORTER ROUTE. ON OCCASION THE MORE VENTURESOME RIDERS EMBARK ON MULTI-DAY CROSS-COUNTRY TRIPS.

SEPTEMBER 21 st NOTES :

1. SINCE THE  CDC HAS EXEMPTED THE NEED FOR WEARING FACE MASKS AT THIS STAGE OF THE PANDEMIC THE CLUB NO LONGER MANDATES THE WEARING OF MASKS WHILE RIDING AND WHEN DINING IN THE OPEN. WE SHOULD  BE AWARE THAT THE PANDEMIC IS STILL WITH US AND URGE OUR MEMBERSHIP TO FOLLOW THE CDC GUIDELINES.

RIDE SCHEDULE THROUGH MARCH 2022

NOTE: Departure is at 8:30 AM. until THE WEATHER COOLS when the time changes to 9:00 AM

Parking areas:     #1 = Clubhouse 3;    #2 = Los Olivos Community Park, which is right across the street from the new section of the bike trail.  It’s on Encanto.  (The park is on the other side of Irvine Center Drive down in the new housing development)Directions:  If you are traveling down Moulton/Irvine Center Drive toward the freeway, turn left on Bake and go down past the signal (Gitano) and turn right onto the next street. It is Encanto, but there isn’t a street sign for it on Bake. The park is on the right.  If you are coming from the other direction on Irvine Center Drive, for whatever reason, you can turn right on Encanto (the signal) and follow it around to where it turns left and you will end up at the same park.  If you are coming from Santa Vittoria, turn left on Lake Forest, then turn right on Bake.  You can’t turn into Encanto directly because there is an island there, so go up to the signal (Gitano), make a u-turn and go down to the next street and turn right.  The park is there on the right.;     Picnic =  Island area Dana Pt.

DANA POINT RIDES - NEW ROUTE - EASY RIDE BUT ADDS 5 MILES. WE LEAVE FROM CLUBHOUSE 3 BY CAR TO REATA PARK IN SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO. PROCEED UP ORTEGA HIGHWAY EAST FOR ABOUT 2 MILES. THE PARK  The park is there on the right.
