The State of California has honored the Village as a California Green Business that makes extraordinary efforts to reduce waste. The Village has extensive in-house recycling opportunities, and the Boards are vigilant in encouraging residents to recycle. The Village also recycles its own green waste, reusing it as compost for landscaping. About the Program:
Established in 1993 by the California Integrated Waste Management Board, now known as the California Department of Resources, Recycling, and Recovery, or (CalRecycle), and the Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP) is an annual program to recognize California businesses that have made outstanding efforts to reduce the waste that goes to our landfills. Successful applicants receive an award certificate from the State of California along with a camera-ready WRAP WINNER logo and window decal. The logo is suitable for use on products, advertising, and on educational materials to show that the State applauds efforts to reduce waste.
WRAP provides an opportunity for California businesses and nonprofit organizations to gain public recognition for their outstanding waste reduction efforts and lets the community know the business takes waste reduction seriously. WRAP also provides businesses with examples of successful waste reduction techniques, which they may adopt as their own.
