Why are the bunkers wet in the summer time?

Why are the bunkers wet in the summer time? The bunkers are wet in the summer due to the fact that the greens need to be watered every night during the hot summer months. The greens are watered by both the half-circle greens sprinkler heads, as well as the full-circle apron sprinkler heads. It is these full circle heads that tend to get the bunkers the wettest, though some of the half heads can reach bunkers as well. Completely re-designing the irrigation system to avoid the bunkers would be cost prohibitive. |
